Born into a family dedicated to Contemporary Art (daughter of António Prates) , Raquel Prates opens her first Art Gallery, at just 21 years old, being considered one of the youngest “gallerists” in Europe.
She gained recognition when she became the Creative Director and Curator of the International Biennial of Plastic Arts and Industrial Design (2010) with her innovative approach to embracing new trends in the market but without neglecting and paying homage to artists already renowned in the national and international world.
She was also director of Galeria de São Bento (2011) where she promoted emerging talents, and director of the online concept ArtElection (2013) towards the democratization of Art as an investment, where she opened the market for new and young collectors by providing the purchase of works in instalments.
To this day, she continues to work to recognize and discover new talents in the area.
Still within the socio-cultural sphere, Raquel Prates was honoured by the Parish Council of Santos-o-Novo, for her commitment and contribution to the Lisbon community and named Honorary Ambassador of the Todos-os-Santos Monastery in Lisbon.
